We are running an Escape & Evasion exercise over 7/8th October at our North Wales site.
This will last 24 hours with an approximate start time of 1000hrs Saturday. You will have minimal kit as one of those being hunted. You must bring all your own kit as once eliminated you will join the hunter force. The rest of your kit will be safely cached at a harbour area. As one of those being hunted you will be allowed to carry; Revised Kit List for Evaders 2 x MRE meal or Brit pack equivalent. With the potential for being on the loose for 24hrs you will need a couple of main meals. You can also add some of the sundries from the packs. Things like chocolate, boiled sweets, soup etc. Remember that you will be trying to equal half the contents of a Brit pack. Tissue pack is advisable for a crap. Due to H&S considerations & now allowing a stove/cooker feel free to carry brew kit. Small Hexi Stove or similar. Fuel packs for above. Matches & Stricker Spoon Some sort of eating container, mess tin, mug etc. 2 x Bin liners (supplied on the day) Note book and pencil (one notebook per two man team will be provided) Compass Whistle Torch (or light source). Basha (no pegs or bungee cords) Para cord Multi-tool/Knife Water (3l thereof) Pistol Mag in the pistol (not a 50 round mag either) Med kit, ie plasters & pain killers. All this must be in one utility pouch or else in your pockets. You will be searched & kit checked prior to drop off by Land Rover. Please ensure you are packed & ready to go prior to arrival. If you are then the search & kit check can be done quickly before we move off. I will be carrying a combat 1st aid kit on my kit in an additional pouch along with a radio & bowman for comms with OC OPFOR for emergencies. I will also be carrying RED distress flares. Please do not bring any illumination flares other than white. Again these will be checked. We have permission from the Police/Mountain Rescue to use white illum only. RED flares will result in emergency services deploying. Other than clothing, if it isn't on this list it isn't allowed. You will be in teams of 2 & will be hunted by a force comprising serving & ex Brit/NATO forces. You will be carrying information containing grid refs of cached food/water/weapons/ammunition at different locations around the site. These grid refs will be time dependent. Each 2 man team will have a time window for each location. The hunter force will have no idea of the caches, only by catching you will they be able to find the grid refs. We have 700+ acres of woodland & open areas secured from the surrounding hills. You will have to make your way to these grid refs avoiding the hunter force who will be using vehicles as well as highly experienced sniper teams to track you. Once captured they have discretion to extract information from you. How they do that is up to them!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif) Hunter force. You will be fully equipped as a normal op & operate from a secured harbour area. You will have access to vehicles including mil land rovers as well as a nice warm doss bag, maybe a tent, warm scoff & hot brews aplenty. Plus you might get the chance to wire someones nuts up to a car battery (if thats your thing!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) ) Please indicate interest here & tell us whether you would like to be a hunter or hunted. If one of the unfortunates being hunted please understand you will potentially be out all night without a sleeping bag or tent. There is very little likelihood of hot food. Cost will be £25. This 24 hour event will include the oppurtunity to learn some useful navigation & survival skills, something we offer through the parent company as proper courses. Booked in so far: Hunted: E Harrison D Ellis A Dunn L Collinwood A Dawson Hunter Force: I Moseley (OC) P Peacock (2ic) Cass Peacock (woof) M Bettany L Dutton A Batten G Francis R Davies + 2 others (names tbc) I'll update this as names appear. Let me know if anything is incorrect/wrong team etc. IED This post has been edited by Echo66: Oct 3 2006, 12:07 PM |

If as the quarry you manage to engage & capture a vehicle (bear in mind the possibility of a Gimpy or 249 on a swivel mount while you only have a pistol) then bloody good luck & fill your boots!
Obviously these will be privately owned vehicles so no hair arsing about like a spanner & trying to ram trees in them. Original post updated with RV info. Ed |

This will be a thorough test of cam & concealment skills & the ability to move through terrain as covertly as possible. Think of yourself as cut off from the rest of your team/patrol.
Although this may sound like a tough challenge it is something that can be tackled at your own pace & direction. The timings between cache locations will not require sprints! The only part that will test you physically is lack of hot food & sleep. Sleep is up to you. If you want to curl up inside your basha (i bloody well will be) for a few hours then feel free. Ed |

WG, i've added you as a provisional for the quarry as those places are full at the moment but there could well be drop outs. I need to check with one of my guys with the exact numbers so i'll let you know via this thread in the next few days.

Yes there is. PM me your name (& you please WG).
As the hunter force increases in size so will the quarry exponentially. There is a ratio we are working with. One thing to add. You must supply your own car battery & pliers! Ed This post has been edited by Echo66: Aug 18 2006, 22:42 PM |
