TOWN ASSAULT II
at the Copehill Down Village

Town Assault is back only this time its even bigger and better than before!!!! And as always, our mission is to not just to create a airsoft event, but to create an unforgettable experience for everyone on the event.

Signup as a member of the U.S & EU Coalition Force or a member of the Ukrainian Rebel Insurgency. This operation focuses on the efforts of the coalition to capture the insurgency senior leadership and crush the insurgency altogether.

You have seen the video of Operation Irene III.
Now see what the British can do!!!

What follows is an introduction to the event. Full details will be made available on the Town Assault website that will be live soon.

FACTS:

1. Event date is the 20/21 May 2006

2. This will be a 24 hour non-stop event.

3. The venue is a Copehill Down, just in case you missed that bit.

4. This will be a locap/midcap only event. NO hicaps.

5. Minimum age is 16+, but anyone under 18 needs to be accompanied by a 18+ player and all players under 18 should wear a full face mask.

6. Ticket price is £75. A £35 non-refundable deposit will be required within 2 weeks of your booking with the remainder payed 6 weeks before the event.

7. Bookings will start sometime within the next two weeks.

8. Only 300 places available.

9. The TA2 website will soon be available.

10. Ear Defenders will be supplied to every player, because with the amount of pyrotechnics we have lined up...you are probably going to need them!.

11. As the game will not stop because its night time, players can choose to retire back to a safezone or can sleep in the building working through the night on 1 hour stags. Because the action is not going to stop because some might be getting a bit sleepy!

This is an MOD training area and therefore the MOD have the right to cancel the booking if they need it for the purposes of high priority training. If this happens then we will give you a FULL refund!!!

The Copehill Down Village:
This is a purpose built OBUA (Operations in Built Up Areas) training facility. It is the biggest OBUA facility in Europe, with its 6 streets, 80+ buildings and nearly 2000 rooms. Plus being in the heart of the Salisbury Plains army training area, noise is no issue, so its pyros galore!!!

But what else has Copehill got? Firing ports, trapdoors, grenade sumps, loft spaces ( with sniper hides - removable roof tile ), mouseholes inside and out, burnt out cars, armoured vehicles, pill boxes, trenches, hidden fire positions within piles of rubble, pub, shops, farms, garages and a petrol station.

This is not just any old urban environment. This has everything that every airsoft player could ever want!!!

What we want to achieve in Town Assault II:

Town Assault events represents a single battle that is part of an overall larger storyline. We want to immerse the players in to the heat of the battle. Whilst trying to keep it realistic as possible, we also want to maximise the enjoyment for everyone on the event. This is what we set out to achieve:

1. To push the boundaries in airsoft gaming
2. Create a unique experience for each player
3. Immerse the players in the comat environment
4. Create an event that encourages the use of good tactics
5. Create an event that rewards good team work
6. The players should enjoy themselves every minute of the event
7. Extract and condense all the best bits of MilSim in to a adrenaline pumping event
8. Focus the game on the actual battle at hand.
9. Create a sense of urgency during the engagement.
10. To make every single player feel like they have a purpose in the battle.

Here is just some of the feedback from Town Assault 1:

"OK, well WHAT A GREAT DAY IT WAS!!!! I loved the idea of everybody beeing on limited ammo which made people shoot to hit rather then spray and pray. The Commanders and Comms procedures IMHO worked superb, it was great to hear all this reports and instructions coming in. Thanks for THE BEST airsoft experience so far, Sunday for me was just AMAZING. THANK YOU."
Polish Dude - Airsoft Community Forums

"I very rarely post on the forums, but I must take this opportunity to thank you guys for perhaps one of the best days gaming I’ve had in the last 5 years. I have always been a bit of a pray and spray approach, but you have defiantly converted me to limited ammo game play."
garlicbread - UKAN Forums

"Town assault, from what Dave and Ian had explained was going to be big. Really big, and I hadn't realised how much they'd put into keeping the whole thing managable for the commanders. With the use of the laptop to keep track of your own and enemy forces it made it quite possibe to react or plan accordingly. Having a large map on the wall meant that it was easy to brief the out going players so they at least appeared to understand what I was on about."
Captain Handgrenade - Airsoft Community Forums

"I was marshalling, and it looked like the best airsoft event I have ever seen, never before have I wanted so much to grab my guns and get stuck in!"

I may have given the impression in my opening post that ear defenders are required to be worn. This is not the case. We will offer them to every player and we recommend players wear them but it is not compulsary and you do so at your risk.

This is also true for helmets, although we will not be providing them. But we do highly recommend you wear them but it is optional and again, you do so at your own risk.

The exception to this is when you travel in one of the games vehicles. For youto be a passenger in a vehicle, you will be required to wear a helmet.

beavis_8
let me at it i want it now can we go 2morrow plz open the booking room we r there violent-smiley-017.gif

I don't mind a bit of deafness, will help in my exams to block out extra noise! w00t.gif
As for helmets, are replica helmets alright, or do they have to be full ballistic proof, I assume just so they can prevent knocks on your head?

Please tell me if im being stupid, but 24 hours means we play from 7 in the morning, all night until the next day???!!!
wormbyte
We will probably start close to mid-day. This allows plenty of time to travel to the site.

But yes, when the coalition make their first offensive move then the battle will rage right through the day, right through the night and right up to around mid-day on the Sunday.

Sleep, stay awake, its you call.... devil.gif

OK... having been airsofting for a while now, there's not many events that get me excited anymore.

Hi Mate.

We're currently examining that possibilty.

Obviously we aim to be there from Friday onwards to set up for the game, so we'll try to get something arranged for those who need to recover after a days travelling.
K.O
Sounds amazing!!!
Coalition for the win!!!

A load of us are coming up from bristol !!!

With the 328fps for aegs, will hotter guns using TM velocity reducers to bring them down to 328 be allowed? Our local site allows us to use 350fps aegs, and as such alot of us have 350fps aegs smile.gif

Velocity reducers only work on semi auto mate.
Graeme
I have read conflicting reports as to whether or not that is correct, I will wait and see what answer I get from the lads organising this event first.

will we be issued with maps as i have a feeling i may get lost... sad.gif

Nikumba
Can i make a suggestion about the sniper engagment distance, if there are to be running at 500fps can we not increase the engaeent distance to 40m?

Also is any desert gear considered for the insurgents?

Cheers

Nikumba

Insurgents for teh win!!!
Hero
Insurgents = Rebels = Desert gear
And I play at a site with 500 FPS snipers on a 30m engagement range and I think it's fine. Plus I assume there isn't much open ground at Copehill in order for snipers at 40m to be truly effective.
K.O
I agree with hero on the 500 fps as at black ops there is only 20 m engagement and its still fine.

Coalition all the way, were gonna kick ass
And we'll be the pretty one's
(maybe one day there should be a huge game for north vs south)
smashthestate
I'm lucky enough to have my AS and A2 pure maths and applied maths both around the time of Copehill so my hopes and dreams are now shattered
wormbyte
I shall double check the minimum range with our resident sniper expert and event organiser, slim_shady.

20m MED was the "Old Standard" when 500fps was the norm and no-one seemed to worry about it....I am going to go on record here as stating however, that I would like to see our MED stand at 30m and furthermore I shall expect those people who bring Sniper Rifles to the event to try and avoid headshots were possible at those ranges - I would much rather see shots to the torso and webbing gear than possible injuries......and at 30m you would have to be a complete imbecile to miss your shot in OBUA situations.

On the subject of Velocity Reducers, contrary to popular opinion they do work on full auto, but not as effectively as single shot....and of course this effectiveness is diminished still further by those running very fast AEG's (CA CQB's with 10.8v or 12v batteries for instance) because the diaphragm that causes the velocity retardation doesn't have time to fully close between BB's and of course this means that while you may get a 328fps result on semi, the FPS can rise to the "true" figure in prolonged bursts which are quite possible from a mid-cap.

We'll discuss this issue and get back to you.
flatout
is the minimum range still be if you sniper rifle fire at 370fps
wormbyte

I would be inclined to say yes. If a marshall sees you firing a sniper rifle he will be looking at your range to target. He he sees it to be under 30m then he is going to be jumping all over you, which will inturn piss you off because they will give away your position every time they do it! tongue.gif
Ezek
on the subject of velocity reducers, at an event like this, you arent going to want to be laying down to much fire on full auto with a 600 round ammo limit, its less than you think once you have loaded up your pistol mags aswell, think i'll be sticking to semi auto. so i think velocity reducers will be more effective at an event like this than a normal weekend skirmish

Velocity reducers I think mate. 350 is that little toooo hot. We are happy to have a 5% leeway on everything except sniper rifles but 350 would mean 7.5%. It has to stop somewhere and 328+5% is where it stops.
Graeme
We weren't asking to use our 350fps aegs, just asking if we can use velocity reducers(failing that we downgrade gearboxes) wink.gif.1 Not actually me but my team mates, as ill be support gunning wink.gif.1

Sorry mate I mis-read the post. We have absolutely no problem with your guys using velocity reducers. smile.gif
Graeme
Not a problem, thats good to know smile.gif Looks as if we will be spending alot of money to get things organised and ready for the event, thats one less thing to pay for! (downgrading would cost more than a velocity reducer up here.)

There is burn trays in the burnt out vehicles. We will be asking about it when recce the site at the end of the month. I certainly hope we can use them! devil.gif
